From Bath we rented a car and drove out to Stonehenge. It was SO cool, but also a little blah. I mean, if you have the chance to see it don't turn it down, but it's kind of like, if you've seen it in pictures you've seen it. It looks exactly the same. Plus you can't get very close to it or touch it or anything unless you book a special tour, so you're just behind a security barrier the whole time as you move along a path around the whole thing. Also, it's RIGHT off the highway. So it loses a little bit of magic when you can see cars zipping along. Still, like I said, see it if you ever have the chance because it really is cool!
The clouds were GORGEOUS and there were sheep which just made my life! It was also crazy windy. On our way back to Bath we stopped by a monastery and walked around/in it. It was super pretty and we happened to go right at sunset.
We also stopped into a grocery store to pick up some snacks and British Vogue. Some of the crisps we saw were roast ox flavored which was just a tad too weird for either of us to want to try! The next day we drove out to Aveburyhenge. It is just like Stonehenge except way older, way bigger, and there are NO barriers! So you can walk all around it and touch all the stones. It is SO cool! We both loved it more than Stonehenge. Thanks, Rick Steves, for your travel tips!
Such a great time! And there's still more England adventures to come! So, cheers for now!
