Spring Break- Part 2 Bath, Stonehenge, and Aveburyhenge

After London we hopped on to a train and headed off to Bath to see the ancient Roman ruins. We really enjoyed this little city and walked alllllll over it! We stayed at the YMCA right in the middle of the city, so we were super close to all of the touristy stuff that we wanted to see. It was so cute and charming and just... Magical. I love everything about England. Even the gloom!

From Bath we rented a car and drove out to Stonehenge. It was SO cool, but also a little blah. I mean, if you have the chance to see it don't turn it down, but it's kind of like, if you've seen it in pictures you've seen it. It looks exactly the same. Plus you can't get very close to it or touch it or anything unless you book a special tour, so you're just behind a security barrier the whole time as you move along a path around the whole thing. Also, it's RIGHT off the highway. So it loses a  little bit of magic when you can see cars zipping along. Still, like I said, see it if you ever have the chance because it really is cool!

The clouds were GORGEOUS and there were sheep which just made my life! It was also crazy windy. On our way back to Bath we stopped by a monastery and walked around/in it. It was super pretty and we happened to go right at sunset.

We also stopped into a grocery store to pick up some snacks and British Vogue. Some of the crisps we saw were roast ox flavored which was just a tad too weird for either of us to want to try! The next day we drove out to Aveburyhenge. It is just like Stonehenge except way older, way bigger, and there are NO barriers! So you can walk all around it and touch all the stones. It is SO cool! We  both loved it more than Stonehenge. Thanks, Rick Steves, for your travel tips!

Such a great time! And there's still more England adventures to come! So, cheers for now!

Spring Break- Part 1 London

Let me just start off by saying that it has been a year and a half since my student teaching. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to travel overseas to Heidelberg, Germany to do my student teaching on Patrick Henry Army Base (now closed) at Patrick Henry Elementary School in first grade! It was such a blast! I worked with the most incredible people and was able to travel to some amazing places. I had been blogging while overseas to share my travels and some photos, but as the semester wore down so did my blogging. Then, once stateside again, I immediately started searching for jobs and landed one teaching first grade! After getting swept into my first year of teaching- where I was promptly switched into fourth grade a month into the year- I never ever got around to finishing sharing about my time abroad. Well, now it is fall break of my second year teaching (new district, new school, back to first grade) and I have things much more under control! I think that it's time I finished sharing about living in Germany for four months, so here we go!

For spring break myself and another intern went to jolly old England! We visited London, Bath, the Cotswolds, and then went back to London. It. Was. AMAZING!!!! Here is the first part of our trip where we spent some time out and about in the glorious city of London!

We rode around on a double decker bus to orient ourselves with the city, saw the major landmarks, walked through some of the parks, and saw Wicked! It was gray and cold and we were loving every minute of it. Our hostel was in central-ish London so we were really close to everything! It was a really quick two days, and I really was just so in awe to be in a the city of my dreams that I didn't take a ton of pictures. Other than Prague, London is my very favorite city! I think it goes Prague, London, Chicago. I have fantasized about going to England ever since I was a kid, and it was just such a dream come true to get to spend a week exploring different parts of the country! I would live there in a heart beat.

Cheers!

Back in action!

Well, I never finished blogging about my student teaching adventures, (mostly because of the INCREDIBLY slow internet overseas) and then didn't continue it at home, (welcome to you first year teaching!) so now I think I will try to finish it up. BUT... Before that I'm going to post about a great Halloween blog hop! I've just started getting into reading teacher blogs- I really just read fashion blogs- so, I started searching for other awesome primary teachers out there who post all of the excellent things they do in their classrooms that I could copy in mine! As I was searching I stumbled across this blog-hop with tons and tons of fabulous freebies and one really grand prize, so, to anyone who may stumble across this, here is a link to the hop!

Yeah... NO CLUE how to make it all cute and a graphic link and such... Oh, well, such is life
